neuroscience hues

Why study when you have to die one day
Why take classes when you don't get what the teachers say
How to study brain when your brain's all dead
How to study chap5 when chap1's still unread
They say "you're a nerd" when I touch the books
And when I flunk, I get those shocking looks
MBBS is so boring, so very sick
PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS A SHORT WAY TRICK
To get away from this torture, this 5 year-hell
To run far far away from this book called Snell's
I totally give up, I cannot at all survive
I'll just sleep in a corner, into sweet dreams I will dive.

Deep in the valleys of love Where streams of purity flow When stardust and morning light blend When twilight brings forth its glow

Nasrullah Shaji

Let the water engulf me
Let the high tides hug me
Let the roaring sea greet me
Let the blue waves meet me

Why for heaven, wait?
Let martyrdom be my fate
I’m used to facing storms
Fighting battles, to me is a norm

I’m an ocean within a soul
A tale of nobleness, untold
I am that drop of rain
Which the sea craves to claim

Shaping and saving lives
Not caring if own self survives
A father, a leader, a teacher
Of heroism, of nobility, a preacher

We won’t give up our prayers
Forever you’ll be in our tears
For a miracle, we're still assured
O Allah! pls make him safely reach ashore...

Nasrullah Shaji was the vice-president of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi and the principal of Usman Public School Campus 13 (renamed as Shaheed Nasrullah Shaji Campus). He died while saving the life of his student, Sufyan. May Allah ta'ala bless them both with Jannat-ul-Firdows, ameen.
[I wrote this on poem on June 3rd when there was still some hope for his survival. He has been declared Shaheed now.]

Unconquerable

(1)

From the ashes I will rise
I will ablaze the entire sky
The inferno that will burn
Will be unconquerable by anyone

(2)

Our dreams never expire
We are the girls on fire
Rules, we do not abide
Like the free birds we ride
We can't be ever controlled
Unconquerable are our souls!

(3)

This girl is feeling high
Upto the sky she'll rise
Stars are only my journey
Each moment is my eternity
My dreams won't go in vain
Unconquerable I will remain
To the world I may be a loser
But clear remains my future
Like the phoenix is my soul
Mountains-high are my goals
Shattered dreams are mere lies
From the ashes I will rise
Return I will stronger
The world I will conquer!

(4)

The morning star has paved its way
The night is no longer to stay
The daylight is near and very close
The bud will then open into a rose
This crying face will then see
More tears cuz of the overflowing glee
The lanterns we flew for the sky above
Have touched the heights, are sending love

(5)

From the ashes I will rise
Will touch the heights of sky
Till my last breath I'll strive
Shattered dreams are mere lies
World, behold my cry
I'll strive until I die
I have a soul, fresh and alive
On my dreams, I solely rely
The world says, "Oh my,
Why can't she accept she's fried?
Even takes defeat as a prize
Crazy her, so full of life."
Well, I tell you now and live
Upto the moon, I'll mark my strides
The stars will see me pass by
Loud and clear will be their cry
"Isn't she the human who once sighed?
And now see her mighty flight
The mountains scared of her heights
The eagles envious of her sight
The horses impressed, how she glides
Mightier she is than the ocean's tides
Carries sunbeam in the hours of night
Infinite, in her is the Light
Small she is but beats the knights
With great passion, hurdles she fights!"
World, don't go on my size
Till eternity, I will try
I'll survive agony with a smile
Unconquerable is my style!

My Ummah needs me

While we lay,
On our comfy beds,
Our brothers and sisters,
Cry for help.

As we’re engrossed,
In our deep sleep,
The other part of Ummah,
Deeply it bleeds.

Nationalism,
We take it too seriously.
Forgotten have we our Ummah,
Wholeheartedly.

Other Muslims are,
Your own flesh and blood.
We all have been made,
From the same clay and mud.

Inferiority, superiority,
They shouldn’t exist.
No class difference,
Should be witnessed.

Your brothers from Thar,
They need you.
Let’s help them,
To make it through.

The drought is a test,
Not just on them.
But on us too,
That how much we help.

At buffets, you see,
Foods’ piles and rows.
We have so much of food,
It we even throw.

Allah ta’ala will ask us,
On the Judgement Day,
How much we spent,
Gave away for His sake.

Atrocities by Israelis,
Are well known.
If you are a Palestinian,
No mercy is shown.

While our bros in Gaza,
Bullets they face,
We compete,
In a time-wasting race.

We’ve got lawns to buy,
And movies to watch.
Busy folks we are,
Trying to look top-notch.

A land exists,
Within our boundaries,
Where Muslims are tortured,
With great agony.

Great beauty it beholds,
Whose soil is nurtured,
By the blood of those,
Who are cruelly butchered.

I’m not exaggerating,
History will tell you,
Of the tough times,
Our Kashmiris went through.

They need our help,
All our support.
Let’s do all we can,
To play this crucial role.

Do you know about Syria,
Once the great ash-Shaam,
It was the centre of knowledge,
For the holders of Iman.

What has become of it now,
I don’t want to narrate.
What a leader can do,
For merely power’s sake.

Isn’t it the sign of qiyamah,
That time will behold,
Muslims will kill Muslims,
With no reasons known.

It is not just Syria’s state,
But of Pakistan too,
The Muslim blood is spilled,
Like it’s of no value.

The tale of Egypt:
Democracy couldn’t stay,
Thanks to the
Pharaohs of today.

The Muslim nation
Is in very much need,
That in having Iman,
Each one of us succeeds

Let’s vow to be productive,
As much as we can,
For in a nation’s prosperity,
Important is every man.

Co-education?

Today I’m going to be blunt
No sugar-coated words
No matter how much
They seem to be absurd

Sometimes a bad deed prevails
Prevails to such an extent
What was once considered evil
Turns to be the most popular trend

Let’s speak against
The greatest fitnah aboard
We call it co-education
A double-edged sword

Yes, men and women stand equal
But they are not the same
And if you argue against it
I find your logic lame

Different natures we have
We’re tamed on separate grounds
Girls, they’re delicate creatures
Boys, by discipline they’re bound

Men and women are different
With diff sets of responsibilities
You can simply not merge
Two opposite mentalities

I do not speak against
The noble concept of education
We’re aware of the fact that ilm
Is Momin’s best-kept possession

Girls, they require tender teachers
Who are soft and gentle like them
One should teach according to
Everyone’s cerebrums and brainstems

Boys are wild creatures
Let ‘em mess with swords n sports
Feed them alongside with knowledge
To maintain the future’s hope

The lads and the lasses
Different hormones they release
When they hit puberty
And grow into teens

This is an important phase
To nurture and shape their minds
For these minds will control
The Ummah’s future times

Mehrams are the only relations
Which are lawful to us
But co-ed works against this
And modesty, it thrusts

At the most golden period of history
Let’s take a look back
When Muslims were truly Muslims
Walking on the right track

Prophet SAW taught Muslims
Men and women alike
He SAW allotted separate days for both
For lighting their brains bright

Our ancestors we take pride on
The Umayyads, the Abassids
The Mughals, the great al-Andalas
They were all on modesty’s side

If we really are well-wishers
To our society’s moral traits
We must nip off co-ed’s evilness
And better this Ummah’s fate

It's war-time!! (exams coming up)

The sharpness of our blades will avenge

The neurons won’t lightly take this revenge

We will fight until our last breath

With a smiling face we will face death

We tried our best and that’s all that counts

Stronger we get, as more battles we surmount

At times accepting defeat is brave

Even if victory is what we crave

Accepted we have, and we move on

To fight to see the glorious dawn

We will not give up, we will fight it up

We will not give in, we will light it up

Look up at the sky as it fills itself with glow

The victory is near, we both know it so
