Nasrullah Shaji

Let the water engulf me
Let the high tides hug me
Let the roaring sea greet me
Let the blue waves meet me

Why for heaven, wait?
Let martyrdom be my fate
I’m used to facing storms
Fighting battles, to me is a norm

I’m an ocean within a soul
A tale of nobleness, untold
I am that drop of rain
Which the sea craves to claim

Shaping and saving lives
Not caring if own self survives
A father, a leader, a teacher
Of heroism, of nobility, a preacher

We won’t give up our prayers
Forever you’ll be in our tears
For a miracle, we're still assured
O Allah! pls make him safely reach ashore...

Nasrullah Shaji was the vice-president of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi and the principal of Usman Public School Campus 13 (renamed as Shaheed Nasrullah Shaji Campus). He died while saving the life of his student, Sufyan. May Allah ta'ala bless them both with Jannat-ul-Firdows, ameen.
[I wrote this on poem on June 3rd when there was still some hope for his survival. He has been declared Shaheed now.]
